     A. \\#Pro 1:10-21\\ Resist Peer Pressure
     B. \\#Pro 1:20-33\\ Wisdom Desires You
     C. \\#Pro 2:1-22\\ You need to seek wisdom.
     D. \\#Pro 3:1-35\\ You need to keep living wisely.
         1. \\#1-4\\ "forget not my law"
            a. \\#1\\ The father tells his son not to ignore or lose
                what he is being taught.
            b. The last chapter…
                (1) …was more about receiving wisdom. This chapter
                     is more about keeping it.
                (2) …dealt more with learning wisdom. This chapter
                     more with living by it.
                (3) …dealt with more with generalities. This
                     chapter is more specific.
                (4) …gives advice more to the young. This chapter
gives advice for the more mature.
            c. \\#2\\ If the son will not forget the wisdom learned
from his parents, he will live a long and peaceful
                (safe, healthy, prosperous) life.
            d. \\#3\\ Do not let mercy and truth escape from you.
                (1) Mercy and truth become two close companions of
                     wisdom.
                (2) The command here is do not get so busy tending to
other things that these precious treasures get
                     away from you.
                (3) The son is told to bind (tie, secure) them to his
                     heart.
                (4) All of this is a figure of speech to emphasize
the need to keep wisdom after you have found it.
            e. \\#4\\ If you keep wisdom, you will be blessed and
                prosper before God and others.
        2. \\#5-6\\ Trust the Lord.
            a. \\#4\\ Trust completely in the Lord.
                (1) No half-hearted confidence in God will do.
Either God is completely truthful or completely
                     a liar.
                (2) \\#5\\ Do not LEAN on your philosophy or
                     reasoning.
            b. \\#6\\
                (1) "in all your ways" - In every way, in every
situation, no matter what, you can trust God.
                (2) He will guide you.

Proverbs 28:25 He that is of a proud heart
stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his
trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a
snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the
LORD shall be safe.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he
is a shield unto them that put their trust in
him.

        3. \\#7-8\\ Don’t Depart.
            a. Don’t try to do this on your own. Don’t think you are
                able to do it.
            b. Especially, don’t deliberately turn away from God’s
way or to evil thinking that the easy way will be
                better.
            c. \\#8\\ Doing this God’s way will be best for you.
Perhaps this is a reference to God giving good health
and long life to those that trust Him.
        4. \\#9-10\\ Honor the Lord.
            a. If you trust the Lord, you will honor Him with your
                substance.
            b. "Firstfruits" is a reference to the tithe but not the
                same word.
                (1) "Tithe" means "tenth," and has to do with the
                     amount of the gift.
                (2) "Firstfruits" means "beginnings," and has to do
                     with the order of giving.
                (3) If you trust the Lord, honor Him by giving to Him
                     first.
            c. \\#10\\ Honoring the Lord with your substance will
move God to bless you with more substance.
        5. \\#11-12\\ Don’t despise chastening.
            a. Every believer is going to do wrong from time to time.
The Lord "chastens" (disciplines, corrects) us when
                this happens.
            b. \\#12\\ When the Lord disciplines us, it is not in
                anger but:
                (1) As a FATHER who DELIGHTS (approves, favors, wants
                     the best) in his son.
                (2) In LOVE.

Hebrews 12:5 And ye have forgotten the
exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto
children, My son, despise not thou the chastening
of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of
him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and
scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

        6. \\#13-20\\ Remember the value of wisdom.
            a. Wisdom brings:
                (1) \\#13\\ happiness
                (2) \\#16\\ length of days
                (3) \\#17\\ pleasant and peaceful ways
            b. Wisdom is better than:
                (1) \\#14\\ marketing silver
                (2) \\#14\\ the profit of gold
                (3) \\#15\\ rubies
                (4) \\#15\\ everything else you can desire
            c. Wisdom (and its byproducts of true knowledge and
understanding) were used by the Lord to:
                (1) \\#19\\ build the foundation of the earth
                (2) \\#19\\ set the heavens
                (3) \\#20\\ break up the deeps (flood)
                (4) \\#20\\ drop dew from the clouds
                (5) These verses demonstrate why the created world
stands so firmly on logic and reason. It is
unfortunate that some have chosen to worship
the logic around which the worlds were created
and not the God who used logic to build
                     creation.
        7. \\#21-26\\ Remember how wisdom can help you.
            a. \\#22\\ It can be life (the word means life) and grace
                (favor, charm, elegance) to you.
            b. \\#23\\ It will help your walk to be safe and sure.
            c. \\#24\\ It will help your sleep be fearless and sweet.
            d. \\#24-25\\ It will move God to keep you in times of
                fear and destruction.
        8. \\#27-30\\ Do right by your neighbor.
            a. \\#27\\ Help when you can.
            b. \\#28\\ Don’t delay in giving what you have.
            c. \\#29\\ Don’t try to do wrong, especially to those you
                live beside.
            d. \\#30\\ Don’t argue without a reason.
        9. \\#31-35\\ Remember the end of the wicked.
            a. \\#31\\ Don’t envy them or follow them.
            b. \\#32\\ They are an abomination to the Lord. Contrast
that to the Lord showing His secret (His counsel) to
                the righteous.
            c. \\#33\\ They are cursed by the Lord. Contrast that to
                the Lord blessing the just.
            d. \\#34\\ They are scorned (mocked) of the Lord.
Contrast that to the Lord giving grace to the humble.
            e. \\#35\\ The Lord will give to the fools shame but to
                the wise glory.
