\\#1:10-9:18\\ - Lengthy lessons (proverbs) (A Father’s Exhortations)
V. \\#Pro 4:19:18\\ Various Exhortations
    A. \\#8:1-31\\ Wisdom’s Character
        1. \\#8:1-3\\ Wisdom’s Place - The idea is that wisdom is
making itself known from all the important places (i.e.
the top of the high places, in the paths, in the gates,
at the entry of the city). You have to work to miss it.
        2. \\#8:4-5\\ Wisdom Target
            a. \\#4\\ "men" and "sons of man" - Two expressions to
indicate the same group, all men.
            b. \\#5\\ "simple" and "fools"
        3. \\#8:6-9\\ Wisdom’s Positives
            a. Wisdom includes everything right.
                (1) \\#6\\ Wisdom shall speak of "excellent" and
                     "right" things.
                     (a) The word EXCELLENT means ruler, prince. It
makes reference to the highest, the best,
                          the most excellent things.
                     (b) RIGHT means fair, equal, true.
                (2) \\#7\\ Wisdom shall speak of "truth."
                (3) \\#8\\ Wisdom shall speak "righteous" words.
                (4) \\#9\\ Wisdom shall speak "plainly" or
straightly. Similar to the word already used in
                     \\#6\\.
            b. The negative of wisdom excludes everything wrong thing.
                (1) \\#7\\ Wisdom shall never speak of ABOMINABLE or
                     "disgusting" things.
                (2) \\#8\\ Wisdom shall never speak of "perverse"
                     things.
        4. \\#8:10-11\\ Wisdom’s Value - Better than silver, gold, or
            rubies.
        5. \\#8:12-14\\ Wisdom’s Companions - Seven are mentioned.
            a. \\#12\\ Prudence
                (1) <06195> Used in \\#1:4\\
                (2) Shrewdness, craftiness
                (3) Wisdom teaches us so that we are not taken
                     advantage of.
            b. \\#12\\ Knowledge of witty inventions - Wisdom also
gives us discernment of things that are evil, things
                that will hurt us.
            c. \\#13\\ Fear of the Lord
                (1) This passage gives a definition or at least an
example of the fear of the Lord.
                (2) It is not only reverence and respect for the
                     Lord.
                (3) It is also a hatred for that which is wicked,
such as, evil, pride, arrogance, the evil way,
                     and the perverted mouth.
            d. \\#14\\ Counsel, sound wisdom, understanding, - While
all three are slightly different, all three have in
the common the ability to help others.
            e. \\#14\\ Strength - The ability to stand, to withstand,
to overcome. With wisdom, there is victory.
        6. \\#8:15-17\\ Wisdom’s Resume - Wisdom has worked for
kings, princes, nobles, judges, and for anyone that will
            love wisdom.
        7. \\#8:18-21\\ Wisdom’s Rewards
        8. \\#8:22-31\\ Wisdom in Creation \\#Pro 3:19-20\\- Remember
that wisdom is one of God’s pure attributes. Its origin is
not of man but from the very nature of God. We have said
before that one could substitute the word GOD in these
texts for the word WISDOM. These pure and divine
attributes are interchangeable with the Person because
the Person is steadfast and pure.
